Remember I once posted a letter that I have written to someone? This someone just gave me this, half an hour ago. :))
I was telling TSO that I am easily contented by the little little things that people do for me. Like when Peiyu accompanied me to my bustop and waited for me to board the bus that would bring me home, not before having to cross the overhead bridge to and fro cos her bustop is in the opposite direction; like the postcard above with a message "saw this cardpost and thought you'd love it (yes I do, I really do); like when Gil insisted on waiting with me for my bus even though it was really late at night and she would have to travel alone to her bustop after I have boarded my bus. And there are many many more. And I do really appreciate every one of you.
It is always this kind of little gesture that touches the heart, like for example:
- saving a seat for a friend;
- asking a friend whether she/he wants lunch;
- zapping an extra piece pf readings for a friend;
- taking attendance for a friend 'cos he/she cannot attend lessons for whatever reasons (oops!);
- doing something to cheer a friend up 'cos she/he has been feeling down;
- sharing a mooncake with a friend 'cos she/he likes to eat that particular kind;
- calling a friend up 'cos you have a hunch that he/she might not be so okay;
- listening to a friend even though you might have to wake up very early the next day and you only have less than 4 hours of sleep;
- staying up so that you would be able to wake a friend up in the middle of the night even though it might affect your sleeping routine or even though you would end up having poor quality sleep or even though you might not have adequate sleep;
- choosing to be with a girlfriend or someone who needs you at the moment even though you could have been enjoying yourself with a HOT date somewhere else - in short giving up your potential happiness for a friend;
- having to hang around/wait for a couple of hours doing practically nothing productive all 'cos you want to wait for a friend;
- taking the same transport as your friend even though it might be rather inconvenient for you;
and the list can just gets longer and longer....
Don't you think so? I don't need lavish presents or gifts, it's really the thought that counts.
